On Thursday, Sept 29, we met with 11 students (of the 12 signed up) for the Winter Term Study Away course. Engineering students often avoid off-campus courses as the interfere with their tightly structured programs. Study Away and Winter Term offer this opportunity. Also, male students tend to no undertake study abroad, so we’re also cracking the gender divide. Of the twelve prospective students, ten are male. This turnout is a compliment to Warren Campbell’s efforts and his connection with students. And Julie Ellis, engineering dept head, invests in her student by providing substantial scholarships. Our goal is at least 8 students, so we will see how this rolls out.
As an added bonus… not a draw for the students… I will be joining this course, supposedly to drive the van. See the info here.
