Summer Early Entry 2018 Registration is Now Open

For many students, math, literacy, and English are challenging subjects. As students enter college, they often need developmental classes to prepare them for future coursework. Summer Early Entry (SEE) allows first-time freshman the opportunity to complete developmental courses during the summer, while bridging the gap between high school and university level courses.

SEE is a 5-week program where students live on campus, meet with tutors, and take developmental math, literacy, or English classes. Students enroll in two courses, which can also include University Experience or Math 109 for credit. SEE students get to know WKU faculty and staff, as well as other students through social activities and events.

Students qualify for developmental courses based on ACT, SAT, or placement exam scores. When student test scores fall within the range set by WKU, developmental coursework is required. A list of the exam scores can be found at

“We want students to graduate on time, so offering the developmental courses in the summer allows students to stay on track,” said Alicia Spurlock, WKU Summer Sessions Program Coordinator. “With Summer Early Entry, students get introduced to college life, complete courses, and end the program more prepared for the fall.”

Director of Student Support Programs Carlous Yates said the program also provides resources that students can use throughout their college career.

The program fee includes tuition for two classes, campus housing, meal plans, M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan and a variety of social activities/events. Financial aid may be available for students who complete the 2017/2018 FAFSA in addition to the 2018/2019 FAFSA. For more information, visit
